Author's Protection

We provide authors with unique tools ensuring the maximum protection of their IP rights. Every uploaded ZIP archive can be configured to perform following tasks:

• remove any file when the Item is being downloaded for Trial/Evaluation period (keyword notrial)
• remove any file when the Item was bought and downloaded as full version (keyword nofull)
  
• embed watermark to any JPG, GIF or PNG image inside the Trial/Evaluation package (keyword watermark)
• remove any file unconditionally (keyword remove)
• embed the public part of the serial number into any file (keyword serial)

Why?

• You can ensure that Trial/Evaluation packages are not suitable for production usage: image watermarks, removing important files that are not essential for testing such as PSD files, unminified Javascript files, you can perform programmaticaly check for trial period expiration (see bellow).
• You can embed the public part of the License Number to any file you need so it will be easy to track down the source later.
  

How To

Save the configuration settings into the file about/protect.ini . The configuration syntax is straightforward:

Example

Contents of the about/protect.ini file:

As the result of this configuration:

• The image/main.jpg will contain a watermark when downloaded as Trial/Evaluation Item.
• The js/config.js will get all strings WX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX inside the file replaced by public part of the real License Number.
• The js/jquery.myplugin.unpacked.js will be removed for all Trial/Evaluation versions and in full version it will get embedded the serial number the same way as js/config.js

Embedding the License Number

License Number format for full versions:

License Number format for trial versions:

• L - license type, 0 - Personal, 1 - Regular, 2 - Extended, 3 - Trial
• NNNNNN - private part of the License Number. Full number is stored in WDSLICENSE.txt file inside the downloaded package.
• MMMMMM - public part of the License Number.
• YYMMDD-HHMMSS - Trial versions has the timestamp used instead of the License Number.

Expiration Warnings Tip

Since the Trial version License Number is in fact download timestamp you can use it in your scripts to detect the Trial version expiration.

List your javascript file in the about/protect.ini with the keyword serial. Example of about/protect.ini
